Bon vendredi, Happy Friday
Merci mille fois to all our families who came out for Meet the Teacher this week! We value the connections and partnerships between families and our school personnel in support of student success. We want to Thank Amrit the General Manager of Domino’s Pizza (9 St and 17 Ave) for supplying teachers with free pizza for this night. Merci beaucoup. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped with our Special Lunch this week. Thank you, Sarah S, for organizing this for our students.
World Teacher’s Day – Celebrating October 4 2024
Please honor teachers’ contributions to our community by saying “Merci” on Friday October 4. It is World Teacher’s Day on Oct 5 and we want our teachers to feel valued. Thank you to all teachers for everything you do for William Reid students.
Terry Fox Run
William Reid students and parents, you have raised $3,821 for the Terry Fox Foundation. We had such a great turnout of parents and family members for the run on Monday. Thank you for supporting your child/ren in their efforts to raise money for such a great cause.
William Reid Casino Fundraiser Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 2024
The William Reid School Casino Fundraiser is happening on November 20 and 21, and we will need volunteers to cover shifts at a nearby casino to pull it off. This fundraising event brings in a third of our total fundraising dollars for the year, so it is particularly important to all our school programs that it is successful. Please keep these dates in mind as you start planning for the Fall, and we look forward to seeing you then.
Urgent | Demographic Verification Forms Compliance
The deadline for K – 4 families to complete Demographic Verification Forms passed on Friday, Sep.20. At this time, approximately 35% of students do not have a completed Demographic Verification Form for the 2024-25 school year. On Tuesday, Oct. 1 communication will begin being sent to parents / legal guardians who have not completed Demographic Verification Forms for the 2024-25 school year. This communication will continue to be sent throughout October. It is important to recognize these forms are a legal requirement from Alberta Education for funding purposes. If forms remain incomplete, it may result in funding reduction for the Calgary Board of Education. In addition to system messaging to parents / legal guardians, we are asking schools to work with families to complete Demographic Verification Forms as soon as possible. Our goal as an organization is 100% compliance. Thank you, Markus Jagrelius
Reporting a Late or Absence to the School
The best way to ensure the message is received, please leave a message on the attendance line 403-777-6940 opt 1. Emails are not reliable as they may not be read in time.
Late Arrival Procedures
If your student arrives late to school and misses the class lineup, please enter the school through the front door and check in at the office. We kindly ask that you say goodbye at the office or even better the front door, as our staff will be happy to escort your child to their classroom if they need assistance. This process helps ensure a smooth transition for your child and allows us to maintain accurate attendance records. Thank you for your cooperation!
A Message from the Lunch Team
Students have attended 20 school days thus far, yet our lost and found collection is well over 20 items. The number items that accumulate each day is significant and sometimes unmanageable. Most often, items are not collected and they end up as donations to Goodwill. There is a link below to Mables Label's. Please support us in keeping the amount of lost and found items low by labelling all items, teaching students how to ensure they have all their belongings each day and checking the lost and found table regularly. All lost and found items that are well-labelled are returned to the students regularly. We appreciate your support in minimizing our lost items and ensuring students hold onto their belongings.
