Merci to our volunteers who accompanied the Grade 4 students to Heritage Park this week. We would not have these educational experiences without our community's help.
Thank you to all the families who showed us appreciation today, and every day. We felt valued and important in the community.
Casino November 20/21 Volunteers Needed
Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21 we need volunteers to cover shifts at Pure Casino. This fundraising event brings in 80% of our total fundraising dollars for the year, so it is particularly important to all our school programs that it is successful. We require 40 volunteers to fill the positions over two days, feel free to share this opportunity with anyone who might be available and willing to help.
No CBE police clearance is required. We are appreciative of all the parents, family and friends who can donate their precious resource of time that we need to make this event a success. To date we have 10 Volunteers signed up, so we need about 30 more! Signup link:
Fill Our Cupboards
Snacks are always needed at school for students who forgot their lunch or who are not able to bring lunch. We also have many students who need a top up for their snacks. Healthy snacks are needed to refill the pantry at William Reid. Donations of veggies, fruit, cheese strings, granola bars, yogurt tubes, crackers and the like are very much appreciated. Please bring your donations to the office early next week. Thank you so much.

We Appreciate Teachers
Teachers are highly valued because they play a key role in shaping the future by providing essential knowledge and encouraging students to think critically. They inspire through their passion for teaching and innovative methods, helping students uncover personal strengths and interests. This support can boost confidence and foster a lasting love for learning that can benefit everyone throughout their lives. In celebration of World Teachers’ Day on October 5, the Alberta Teachers’ Association wants to hear about a teacher who inspired you! Submit a short selfie video expressing your gratitude and have the chance to win $100 and the Alberta teacher could win a prize worth $3,000!
Visit The Alberta Teachers' Association for more information. Contest closes October 11, 2024 and is open to Albertans of all ages.

Urgent | Demographic
Verification Forms Compliance
The deadline for K – 4 families to complete Demographic Verification Forms passed on Friday, Sep.20. At this time, approximately 35% of students do not have a completed Demographic Verification Form for the 2024-25 school year.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1 communication will begin being sent to parents / legal guardians who have not completed Demographic Verification Forms for the 2024-25 school year. This communication will continue to be sent throughout October. It is important to recognize these
forms are a legal requirement from Alberta Education for funding purposes. If forms remain incomplete, it may result in funding reduction for the Calgary Board of Education. In addition to system messaging to parents / legal guardians, we are asking schools to work with families to complete Demographic Verification Forms as soon as possible. Our goal as an organization is 100% compliance.
Thank you, Markus Jagrelius

Late Arrival Procedures
We are experiencing a high number of late students. Being late adds to anxiety and stress and it disrupts the classroom. If your student arrives late to school and their entry door is locked, please enter the school through the front door and check have them check-in at the office. We kindly ask that you say goodbye at the front door, as our staff will be happy to escort your child to their classroom if they need assistance. This process helps ensure a smooth transition for your child and allows us to maintain accurate attendance
records. Thank you for your cooperation!
