Notes of thanks
Thank you to our Grade 4 teachers Mme Briard and Mme Ferguson for attending School Council last week.
Thank you for the parents who joined Mme Seychelle’s grade 3 class to the Calgary Public Library.
Thank you to the 6 parents who came in person and to the 11 parents who came virtually for the School Council Meeting this week. There will be lots of information coming out encouraging you to volunteer for the Casino in November.
Thank you to our Grade 2 students and teachers for organizing our October assembly where we celebrated the values of Gratitude and Humility. Our entire school has created a gratitude tree where each student has added a leaf showing how they are grateful for the people in their lives. Please come in to the school to view this beautiful tree.
Jacket Racket
Each year William Reid school participates in Jacket Racket, a volunteer organization that collects, sorts and distributes gently used, clean, winter jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens to Calgary children through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District.
From October 18 until November 22, a box will be set up inside the School across from the office for collection. We are asking parents and students to donate gently used, warm winter jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens (no boots), in all sizes (from small sizes for young kids in Kindergarten to large sizes for teens in Grade 12).
We encourage you to generously support this worthy project. Last year, Jacket Racket distributed close to 2000 coats to needing families! Please visit http://www.jacketracketcalgary.com or contact Sarah Simms at sarahasimms@me.com for further details or if you have any questions.
We need large tall boxes for our Jacket Racket - if any families can donate this, please bring them to the office this week.
Casino November 20/21 Volunteers Needed
Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21 we need volunteers to cover shifts at Pure Casino. This fundraising event brings in 80% of our total fundraising dollars for the year, so it is particularly important to all our school programs that it is successful. We require 40 volunteers to fill the positions over two days, feel free to share this opportunity with anyone who might be available and willing to help. No CBE police clearance is required. We are appreciative of all the parents, family and friends who can donate their precious resource of time that we need to make this event a success.
To date we have 10 Volunteers signed up, so we need about 30 more! Signup link:
Picture Retake Day – Volunteer Needed!
We are in need of a parent volunteer (who has their annual authorization and police clearance completed) to assist us with picture retake day on Wednesday, October 23. This role would involve coordinating and calling students to come down to have their picture taken. The commitment would be from 10 am – 12:30 PM. Please contact Mme Bullough at sbbullough@cbe.ab.ca
