Bonjour les families de William Reid,

We have been getting outside this week and have been busy bees at school.  Our Grade 2 students went to Ralph Klein Park and our PM Kindergarten students went to the Zoo to enhance their Science curriculum on the Environment, Plants and Animals and their relationship to humans.  Our Well-being team of teachers have created resiliency boards that are in the Portable and the main school.  It’s
amazing to see the opportunities that teachers put on and create for students! Bravo et bien fait!

Notes of Thanks

  • all parents who volunteered for the grade 2 filed trip to Ralph Klein Park
  • all families who ordered a Year Book
  • all parents who volunteered for the PM Kindergarten Zoo trip
  • Katrina and Sarah for getting our students out running the past few weeks

Quick Reminder for William Reid Families:

School starts at 8:02 AM — please try to be on time!
Being late can disrupt learning, so thanks for helping your kids start the day right.

Oktoberfest is coming next year...

Calling all parent volunteers! Want to join in and support not only a very fun evening out, but one of the biggest fundraising generators for our school? Then you'll definitely want to be a part of this!

Oktoberfest is next year's ONLY fundraising event organized by William Reid School parents and it will be held this fall. Parents decided several years ago to combine all of our fundraising efforts into one great social event instead of having smaller fundraisers (selling chocolates, baked goods, coupon books etc.) throughout the year. Our other fundraiser is a casino that occurs approximately every 24 months, which we had this past year.

If you would like to join the planning committee for this fall's Oktoberfest fundraising event, please email williamreidoktoberfest@gmail.com with the subject line "OKTOBERFEST VOLUNTEER".

FAQ

Do I need to be fluent in German?

  • Nein, but make sure you spell the email address with a "k"

Do I need to wear Lederhosen or a dirndle to committee meetings?

  • Not unless you want to.

How much time will this take?

  • We'll have 1-3 hours of virtual meetings a month for June-September and will need help with various activities in September and October to prepare.

But what are we organizing?!

  • We are basically planning an adult's night out with an auction so you can outbid other parents, teachers, and friends of William Reid School.

Thanks,
Rosalyn School Council

Naturalization Update

The Naturalization Committee will be having their annual Spring Clean Up on June 8 at 4pm.

Any families who would like to come to help rake, weed, prune and water are welcome to join. The committee would like to sincerely thank Mike Kopp and Carla Mason for their years of volunteer work as they leave William Reid and move on to becoming full-time Elboya parents. Both Mike and Carla have dedicated many, many hours to keeping our naturalization area beautiful and safe for our children. Thank you Mike & Carla!

You’re the perfect BLEND of awesome!

On Friday June 6, 2025 at 8:30 am we are honoring our amazing volunteers in the gym at William Reid School. There will be coffee and an assortment of treats for you to enjoy.

There will also be performances from our grateful students and an opportunity to chat with staff.
There is so much we couldn’t do without our amazing parent volunteers. You add tremendously to our school community. We want to show our appreciation for taking time out of your busy lives to chaperone field trips, attend School Council, support teachers and students during our school residencies, fundraise, organize fun events for staff and students, distribute special lunches, and so much more.

Please RSVP with your child’s teacher by May 26 to let us know if you will be attending. Many thanks, The Volunteer Appreciation Committee, Nancy Lewis and Seychelle Godbout

Drawing Club

Mme Seychelle will be hosting a drawing club for grade 3 and 4 students Mondays and Wednesdays (May 12- June 11) during the lunch recess. This will be a drop-in club for any students wanting to freely explore drawing. There will be access to a collection of how to draw books, video tutorials, and peer collaboration.
