Notes of Thanks

Reminder there is no school this Good Friday as it is a Statutory Holiday.   

New Kindergarten and Grade 1 Orientation Friday May 2 from 1:00-2:30PM 

Friday May 2 from 1:00-2:30PM will be our New Kindergarten and Grade 1 Orientation.  All new families to our school who are accepted and registered as William Reid students for the 2025 – 2026 school year are invited to attend. Kindergarten and Grade 1 teachers will be sharing important information and after a short presentation, classrooms will be open to visit.    

Save the Date - Last Blast is on June 19 from 5-7pm! 

All William Reid children and families are invited to Last Blast - a long standing William Reid way to celebrate the end of a great school year. More details and volunteer opportunities will be circulated by the organizing committee closer to the date.  This event is organized by our School Council.  Learn more on the School Council page.  

Grade 2 Visit to Ralph Klein Park May 21 2025 

William Reid’s Grade 2 students will be visiting Ralph Klein Park on May 21 2025. Students will investigate Earth, its landforms and its bodies of water, and students will investigate the growth and development of plants and animals and consider their relationship to humans. This field trip will relate to the Social Studies and Science curriculum. 

Specific Outcome 

  • Discuss how the various components of Earth interact to support life. 
  • Investigate local and provincial bodies of water. 
  • Discuss ways to respect plants and animals while interacting in various environments. 
  • Explain positive and negative impacts of human behavior on plants and animals. 
  • Represent the life cycles of various plants and animals. 
  • Discuss and compare life cycles of various plants and animals. 
  • Discuss how humans might interact with land, plants, and animals if they see land, plants, and animals as equals. 
  • Identify ways in which people show care for land, plants, and animals through cultural practices.

Jump Rope for Heart 

We are currently at 28% of our goal at 553$ raised.  Thank you to all the families who have so generously contributed. Our school has set a fundraising goal of $2000. The funds raised will help support heart and brain research funded by Heart & Stroke. To help us reach our goal, please donate online today using the Jump Rope for Heart website. Open the link and click "Donate". If you would like to register your child to set their own goal to support the school goal, learn more through this PDF to help you register your child.
