We will have our initial Meet the Teacher Evening and Fall Fling on Thursday, September 21. There will be a notice sent home to remind parents as we get closer to the date.

William Reid Cares

Here at William Reid School, we have honored and recognized our unique community with events such as Orange Shirt Day and Black History month, etc.

Aug. 26-Sept. 4 is Pride Week, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE reaffirms our commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. We acknowledge that each family and community has a unique experience with different recognitions and celebrations, and any commemorative activities in our schools may be perceived differently.

Staffing Updates

Bus Zone

(West side of school – 12th Street SW)

Please do not park in the bus zone on 12th Street SW from the corner (36th Ave and 12th Street) to the driveway by the West doors. We have two buses this year and making the turn at the 4-way stop as well as pulling in to allow for safe loading and unloading of students is difficult. We kindly ask that you do not park in this designated area 30 minutes prior to and at entry and dismissal times. Our parking and drop off can be found here.

For the students who are bussed, routes will not be posted online; individual stop information will be available to families who have pre-registered for transportation for the 2023-24 school year through MyCBE. More bussing information can be found on the CBE Transportation page.

Lunch Supervisors

Do you have some extra time on your hands? Want to make a little extra money? Want to spend lunch with your child(ren) each day? CBE is hiring lunch supervisors, and we are in need of filling a couple of lunch positions here at William Reid School as well. If you’d like to get paid for a couple of hours a day to supervise our students at lunch, please look on the CBE website and follow the application instructions.

Reminder - procedure for reporting absences and/or early pickup

Please notify your child’s teacher and the office either by phone call or email. Please provide the name of your child’s teacher and spell your child’s name. More information click here.

Uncollected Yearbooks

If you did not collect your yearbook at the end of June 2023, we have it in the office. If you did not get a yearbook and are interested in purchasing one, we have a few in the office you can purchase for 20$. We will locate students in their new classes and send uncollected yearbooks home next week.

Volunteers for Book Fair Committee

In November 2023 we are having our first book fair, and we need volunteers. Please email Naomi at nmsorensen@cbe.ab.ca

Terry Fox Run

William Reid will be participating in the Terry Fox run on Friday, September 15. Please ensure that your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the weather as we will be running outside together.
