Bonjour nos familles,

The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that all our schools are safe and caring places for all students and staff. As a public school system, we welcome and celebrate students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs.  At William Reid School we have honored and recognized our unique school community throughout the school year with events such as Orange Shirt Day, Black History month, Asian Heritage Month...etc   June is Pride Month Internationally and National Indigenous History Month. The CBE reaffirms its commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and indigenous students and staff. We acknowledge that each family and community have unique experiences with different recognitions and celebrations, and any commemorative activities in our schools may be perceived differently. However, classroom-based activities and lessons that promote diversity and inclusion are not subject to exemptions under the Education Act.

Kindergarten Orientation

Our Kindergarten Orientation will take place Friday June 7 at 1:00 PM sharp .  There will be a short presentation in the gym for parents and future students (15 - 20 minutes).  Our School Council Parent group will be here to answer questions as well.

Following the presentation, future Kindergarten students will be able to rotate through a few centers in the kindergarten rooms 7 and 9 and around the school to discover skills they will learn in kindergarten. All classrooms will also be open for students to visit and say hello to future teachers.  We are excited to meet our new students!

Notes of Thanks

Thank you to the following individuals for their recent contributions at our school

  • Merci to all the volunteers who went to Ralph Klein Park with the Grade 2 students. We really appreciate your help on this day.
  • Merci to all the 60 parents who came out to our volunteer tea! We could not do all the cool stuff and amazing trips in our school without you. Thank you for all your work and dedication this year! Thank you Mme Nancy and Mme Christina for organizing our Bridgerton Tea and the wonderful performances by our students.
  • Thank you Katrina B and to her Naturalization committee for the beautiful potted plants on our front steps.
  • Thank you to all the parents and guardians in Mme Gunn’s Kindergarten class who attended the Celebration of Learning this past Thursday morning. It was great to see you all reading in French together on the front steps.
  • Thank you Sarah S and to her team of volunteers for organizing and distributing our final Healthy Hunger lunch this year from Pita Pit. We all enjoyed food coming in to the building this week. We love our Special Lunch days.
  • Thank you Rosalyn for picking up the Lost and Found and for donating this to families in need. We really appreciate your extra efforts and care in repurposing clothing that sits for weeks in our school.

DELF Update for Grade 4

We have received notification that our Official Results from the DELF will be shared shortly. We understand that students and their families are anxiously waiting. Thank you for your patience.

Volunteer Process

If you started the Volunteer process with ePIC Please remember to Email your Police Clearance letter to the school. EPIC deletes them after 90 days and it does not come to us or get cleared on the site unless you send it to us.

This step is being missed as people think the system clears them, when it does not.
