Hello William Reid Community
A big thank you to you during these difficult times for educators and families. We appreciate all that you have done to support your students at home over the last few weeks. Please know that your sacrifice does not go unnoticed.
Today students returned to classes with such lovely enthusiasm. We are blessed with their presence in school, reminding us of all about what is most important through this time.
I imagine that many of you have wonderings as we return to learning about the up-and-coming next couple of weeks. Below are some considerations for the next two days. I will send out our regular William’s Weekly on Friday giving an overview of the up and coming week.
Week Ahead | October 30 and 31
- Oct 30 – PM Kindergarten Halloween Festivities ONLY
- Oct 31 – Halloween Festivities for all other students
Halloween Festivities
With the short time frame, here are some things to keep in mind for the festivities that we will be having this week.
Halloween will continue to be a day of learning at school. Students are welcome to wear their costumes for their celebration day. During their time at school, we will have a parade of costumes. Our PM kindergarten students will have the chance to parade through the hallways on Thursday afternoon, and the rest of our community will parade for each other in the gym on Friday. We encourage students to wear their costume over their regular clothes or bring a change of clothes in the event that they become uncomfortable or find that it interferes with their activities like gym or outdoor play.
The guidelines for costumes are:
- No weapons
- No masks
- No blood or gore
The reason behind these guidelines is that we want school to continue to be a safe, caring and welcoming place. Our learners from kindergarten to grade 4 share common spaces and are always interacting with one another. We want to make sure that no one is scared or fearful in coming to school. We thank all families for helping us continue to make our collective space a safe one.
In the past, we hosted a Pumpkin Parade. Due to the short timeframe for us to get organized, we have decided that we will not be hosting a Pumpkin Parade and ask that parents do not send in any carved pumpkins.
Thank you for your consideration,
Kenzie Rushton
