Dear William Reid Families,
Yahoo! Only two weeks of school remain, and we are looking forward to making the most of these final days together.
We were so pleased with the success of our Stampede BBQ event. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteers who helped make the day possible, including our dedicated BBQ team and the alumni who supported the many activities our students enjoyed like Barrel racing and Chuck Wagon races.
Next week, Last Blast will be our big celebration where our entire community comes together to send off the school year with a bang! Please see the details below. A special thank you to our incredible team of volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to planning and organizing this exciting event.

Water Guns at School | Reminder
As we approach the end of the school year, activities that may seem harmless and intended for fun can sometimes lead to peer conflict or cause students to feel uncomfortable at school. To help maintain a safe and respectful learning environment, we ask that parents remind their children that water guns and water balloons are not permitted on school grounds during the school day.
The one exception to this is Last Blast, as it takes place outside of school hours, is parent-supervised, and participation is voluntary. Please make sure that your child does not bring a water gun to school that day as per above. We would ask that parents bring the squirt guns directly to the evening event.
Last Blast | Call for Volunteers – June 18
Join us for Last Blast on Thursday, June 18th from 5-7pm. William Reid's annual spring festivities and picnic party to wrap up the school year! Bring the family, picnic gear and your water guns and mix and mingle with our school community! All family members are welcome to join the fun including a DJ dance party, food trucks, water gun fight, petting zoo and lots of treats.
These events are also made possible by the many parent volunteers- please sign up here to help out! Thank-you for helping make this a great event.
Preparation for Next Year | Class lists and assignments
As teachers begin the process of creating class lists for the upcoming school year, we would like to remind families that student placements are determined through a thoughtful and collaborative process. Teachers work together to create balanced classroom communities that support the academic, social, and emotional success of all students.
Class placement decisions are based on a variety of factors and are made with careful consideration of each student's needs, as well as the overall composition of the class. These decisions are grounded in professional expertise and a strong instructional and social-emotional rationale.
As teacher assignments are not finalized until staffing is confirmed in the fall, we are unable to accommodate requests for specific teachers.
We value the care and professionalism that our staff bring to this process and are confident that placements are made in the best interests of all students. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Parking/dropping off/picking up | Reminder
We have noticed quite a few people parking and/or walking through the staff parking lot lately and would like to gently remind you that there is no visitor parking available in the lot and that parents and students should please avoid walking through the parking lot.
As well, a reminder to not park or stop your vehicle in the bus zone on the west side of the school. There are plenty of spaces further down along the field.
William Reid casino fundraiser |Fall volunteer opportunity
The William Reid School Fundraising Society needs volunteers for our next casino fundraiser happening November 27-28, 2026 at Elbow River Casino. The casino happens every 2 years and is a crucial fundraiser for our school: the last casino brought in over $80,000 that has gone towards technology, residencies, and more to support our kids and our school! To make the casino happen, we need to fill 36 volunteer positions over those 2 days and nights. We'd love to get an early start on filling those shifts! If you'd like to volunteer for this important event, please check the schedule and sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A49ABA72CA1F4C61-64475131-william/174787391#/
